#1: STAR MAP BASE
⭐️⭐️⭐️
>>>>> Agent Possible, are you ready?🕵️♂️
Your brief from Advanced Navigation:
Design a Transportation Map of Your Imagined Future World!
Have you ever imagined how we will navigate and explore the world in the future?
>>>>> Why it matters?⭐️⭐️⭐️
At Advanced Navigation, we develop technology that helps people explore places they’ve never gone before – from deep underwater to the world's most remote desert and beyond to the Moon!
>>>>> Now it’s your turn to dream big!!! 🦖
In your imagined future world - whether it’s on Earth, in floating sky cities, underwater villages, or on a brand-new planet - how do people travel, explore, and find their way?
Will drones deliver snacks through tree houses in the jungle?
Will hovercrafts zoom between ocean towers?
Will flying taxis weave through clouds?
Will people ride self-driving pods through glowing tunnels?
Your challenge is to design a Transportation Map that helps people navigate and explore this amazing future world.
>>>>> Step 1: Imagine your world!
Think about what your world looks like. Grab a pen and paper and write down everything you can think of. Here are some questions to help you get started:
Where is your world? On land, in the sky, under the sea, or somewhere totally new?
Who lives there and what do they need to get around?
What types of vehicles do they use (flying skateboards, underground speed tubes, friendly robot buses)?
How do people know where to go (AI travel guides, glowing pathway lights, voice controlled maps)?
What connects everything (drone paths, light tunnels, floating stations)?
Sketch your ideas roughly first, and don’t worry about being perfect!!!
>>>>> Step 2: Look at Transport Maps for inspiration!
Before you start drawing your own transportation map, it can help to look at examples of how maps are made today. They don’t always have to look realistic - some are practical, and some are playful or artistic. Here are a few ideas for where to find inspiration:
World maps: See how countries, cities, oceans, and mountains are shown.
Subway or train maps: These show platforms and routes in simple, creative ways.
Game and fantasy maps: Look at maps from books, games, or movies.
Theme park maps: See how fun places are shown with paths and stops.
Notice how places are connected, what symbols are used, and how they make it easy to understand how to get from one place to another.
>>>>> Step 3: Create your Transportation Map!
Once you’ve dropped down your ideas, it’s time to start creating your map.
There are a number of tools you can use to do this. You can choose to draw it on paper, use digital design tools (such as Sketchbook or Canva), or AI art tools.
Your transport map should show how people and things move around, for example:
Hover tunnels through underwater caves.
Sky loops for flying taxis between floating schools.
Self-driving road pods zooming through glowing forests.
Drone delivery hubs shaped like flowers.
Magnetic rails shooting across volcano valleys.
Be bold. Be creative. Be futuristic!
>>>>> Step 4: Describe your Transportation Map!
Write a short paragraph (4–6 sentences) that explains your Travel System. Include:
How does your transportation map work?
How does it help the people in your world?
What’s your favourite or most surprising part of the design?
What cool technology helps people know where to go?
>>>>> Step 5: Give it a name
Time to name your Transportation Map! Is it the SkyTrack 9000? The Ocean Glide Grid? The Robo-Loop Express?
Make it fun, unique and fitting for your world!
>>>>> Step 6: Show your work!
Show your work to a friend, teacher or family member and ask them:
What would they add or change?
Are there enough stations or charging spots?
Where would vehicles rest or park?
Collect their feedback and use them to improve your design.
>>>>> Step 7: Enter to win a STEM prize!
Have an adult or teacher take a photo of your future world (including your map design and description).
Submit your entry to hello@gdostem.com.au for a chance to win a fun STEM prize.
