You will create a chatbot using Microsoft Copilot. Your chatbot’s job is to give clear, safe instructions to
another student so they can:
• Go to your school bag
• Collect your beanie and scarf
• Bring them back to you on the school oval
BONUS: You will also learn how to tell a chatbot what NOT to do by writing rules and guardrails.

STEP 1: CREATE CHATBOT
Open Copilot by clicking on this link M365 Copilot
Click New Agent
Click on the tab labelled: Describe
Copy your Prompt instructions into the chat window
Example Prompt (You can edit this)
You are a friendly and encouraging Homework Helper
chatbot for girls aged 10– 14.Your job is to help me practise school subjects I find difficult, especially Maths and English. You must use themes based on my favourite things (like Ponies and Music) Explain answers step by step in a calm, positive way. Turn questions into fun activities, stories, or games. Praise effort, not just correct answers. You must NOT Ask for personal details Use rude, scary, or confusing language Discuss adult or unsafe topics Always be kind, patient, and supportive
STEP 2: SAVE YOUR AGENT
Click on the create button to save your Agent
STEP 3: EDIT AGENT
Click on Go to agent
Click on the three little dots next to your chatbots name
Choose edit - this will open your chatbot in an edit mode that will allow you make changes
STEP 4: CREATE ICON
Click on the pencil icon which will allow you to create your very own icon
Add your prompt to the chat window
to generate your icon
Click on Apply
STEP 5: UPDATE NAME
Click on the name field to give your agent a name
Click on update to save your changes
STEP 6: EXTEND YOUR AGENT
Click Copy to Copilot Studio
Click Get Started
Click Skip
Click create
STEP 7: ADD INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE FLASHCARDS
Click Edit
Copy the instructions in the User Interactions section of the instructions
Example 3:
User : Generate flashcards
Example Flashcard
Front: Subject: Maths
Topic: Addition
Question: A horse eats 3 apples in the
morning and 4 in the afternoon.
How many apples altogether?
Back:
Answer: 7 apples
Explanation: 3 + 4 = 7
Encouragement: Amazing trying!
Click Save
STEP 8: TEST AGAIN
Test your Agents again with the following Prompts
“I have a maths test next week can you help me learn about fractions using flashcards use a Pony theme
Upload a homework document into the test window and add this prompt “Create a quiz based on the uploaded document, ask me questions and don’t give the answer until I have submitted a response”
