#5: TINKER TOWN
🚨💡✨
>>>>> Agent Possible, you’re doing amazing work!🕵️♀️
Your next brief is from UQ:
Create your unique world in Tinker Town!
You’ve now completed 4 missions and there are only 2 more to go before you unlock the Grand Prize Draw! 🎁 Your mission is to invent something amazing that solves a real problem in your Tinker Town metaverse using the design-thinking process.
>>>>> Why It Matters:
Design-thinking is super important in computer science because it helps creators understand real problems and build tech that people actually need. Just like how the team behind the Apple Watch used design thinking to make a device that helps people stay healthy and connected, your invention can solve real problems in fun, creative ways too! In Tinker Town, you get to design a future where creativity, design-thinking and unplugged tech ideas come together. What will you help solve? Here are some creative ideas you might consider:
🐾 Pet Puzzler 2025: A treat dispenser maze to keep your dog busy while you’re at school.
📚 Homework Holder Hanger: A wall hook system made of clips and ribbons that organizes homework by subject.
🎨 Mood Maker Pencil Case: A felt pencil pouch with color-coded tags to show your mood (Happy, Tired, Focused) to your teacher or friends.
All of these could exist in your metaverse world, helping kids thrive and invent with joy!
>>>>> What is design thinking? 🚨
Design thinking is a 5-step creator's method:
Empathize – understand who needs help and why
Define – focus the problem you want to solve
Ideate – think of lots of fun and wild ideas
Prototype – build a sample or sketch of your idea
Test – ask someone for feedback to improve it
>>>>> Step 1: Empathize – Who Needs Help in Tinker Town?
Think about someone in Tinker Town (it could be you!):
A classmate who keeps losing their markers?
A pet who gets bored during the day?
A group planning a science fair booth?
Write 1–2 sentences about their problem.
>>>>> Step 2: Define the Problem🎯
🎯Focus on the problem you really want to solve. Write it down in your own words. To get you started you might like to begin with:
“They need a way to…”
🎯Be specific. Focusing on the exact problem you want to solve helps you invent something useful.
>>>>> Step 3: Ideate – Brainstorm!💡
Come up with 3 ideas that could solve the problem.
Some examples that might help you get the creative flow going:
Be playful: can it fold, bounce, or stick to the fridge?
Can it be made from things like string, pegs, cardboard, or buttons?
What senses does it use: sight, smell, touch, hearing, taste, sixth sense – the ability to perceive with the body in space.
Draw or describe your ideas. How could you apply your ideas to some cool tech?
>>>>> Step 4: Prototype – Build It or Sketch It!✍️
Choose your best idea and create it!
Build it with real materials or draw it clearly.
Add arrows, labels, or emojis to show how it works.
If you like, you can even use AI tools to help you bring your concept into reality!
Apply your ideas to existing technologies like the Apple Watch or come up with your very own future technology!!
>>>>> Step 5: Give it a Fun Name! 📣
Give your idea a name that celebrates creativity:
Pet Puzzler 2025, Homework Hanger, Mood Maker Pencil Case—anything that sounds playful and exciting!
>>>>> Step 6: Test & Improve 💗
Show your prototype to a friend or adult. Ask:
Does it solve the problem?
What do they love?
How could it be better?
Use their feedback to tweak your invention!
>>>>> Step 7: Enter to Win a STEM Prize! 🥳
With parent/guardian permission, take a photo of your Tinker Town Design and Description.
